It also compares the manual and automatic gearboxes. Unusually the reviewer is an owner and not just a journalist on a half day test drive.
The 2.0 soft top, or the 2.0 hardtop. Softtop has 40k Hardtop has 60k Pretty much same price. My only real question (although any advice is appreciated) is how much slower is the hard top with the added weight. Autotrader state the 0-60s as 7.9 and 8.2 respectively. But I want to know real world.
Steve. Unfortunately I can’t answer re an MX5 hard top, but generally I would expect any hard top to be quieter than a soft top. I have owned a VW Eos and VW Cabrio and the Eos was noticeably quieter. That said, later triple lined soft tops such as fitted to the VW Cabrio do tend to be pretty good as deadening sound.

PRHT is not particularly quiet inside and certain sounds are probably noisier than soft top. The fish tank foam in the drain outlets mod can help. There is probably less buffeting noise though.
