It's a great lens just like the 6D II is a great body. Are there better options? Of course, but the only people who notice the differences are other photographers who shoot focus charts all day and zoom to 200% to nitpick pixels. People still shoot professionally with 5D Mark II's for Christ's sake, which is a considerably worse and outdated

The 6D was barely an improvement over the 5D Mark II in that respect with its paltry 9 focus point, one cross-type system, but the D600 had 39 focus points with 9 cross-type. It was sadly a direct evolution of the D700/5D Mark II scenario in that regard. The 6D Mark II has addressed this pitfall head-on in its updated autofocus system.

The 6D Mark II represents a huge step up from its predecessor, and its upgraded features along with a budget-friendly price make the 6D II an incredible value in Canon's DSLR lineup. For those that don't require the extra features found in the 5D IV, the 6D II should prove proficient at tackling most photographic challenges with ease.
Final note on the 6D for my needs, when upgrading from the first-gen 6D, I contemplated both the 6D II and the 5D IV. The 5D IV ultimately won out due to in part these four features: dual card slots, 100% viewfinder coverage, 1/8000 shutter option, and sync speed of 1/200 (vs. the 6D's 1/180).

Of these two cameras, the 6D Mark II is the better choice. It provides improved image quality with a stronger feature set in a more compact body, which creates a better package and better value for money. Comparing these two cameras, it’s apparent that it outperforms the 5D Mark III in nearly every comparable measure.
